Learn More About Our Ministries

As the body of Christ, we are called to be God’s Missionary People to build a better world here where we live as well as abroad. We engage in mission through giving of our time, talent and treasure to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and meet pressing needs. At St. Dunstan’s our Missions Coordinator is Pat Moore.

One of the ways we support mission projects at SDAC is by designating the first Sunday of every month as Silver and Tin Sunday. Parishioners bring to church pocket change, bills or checks  (“Silver”) for missions and canned, boxed or paper goods (“Tin”) for local food banks. The gifts are then presented, blessed and shared.

St. Dunstan’s supports 2 SAMS (Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders) missionaries:

  • Russ & Heidi Smith are serving since 1985 in the Diocese of Chile. Currently, Russ is involved in the Rural Bible Institute, providing theological education to the indigenous peoples of Chile. Heidi is heading up a training program for child evangelism.
  • Mike & Kim Miller in Honduras, who founded the Hope of Jesus Children’s Home to provide food, shelter, education and spiritual development for vulnerable children. Mike initiated Hope Farm as an income-producing resource for the Home. We sell Hope Farm Gourmet Coffee at St. Dunstan’s.

Chuck and Joan Dewing worship with us at St. Dunstan’s when they are “in port.”  Their ministry is to seafarers, those who make their living on ships.  They provide spiritual support and training for pastors who minister to this diverse community and help plant fellowships aboard ships to meet spiritual needs for those at sea.  To learn more, talk to Chuck and Joan when they are in town.

St. Dunstan’s supports St. George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad, Iraq and its vicar, Canon Andrew White.  Located in the dangerous ‘Red Zone,’ the church is a haven for Christians in a troubled land.  Canon Andrew White, “The Vicar of Baghdad” has been ordered home to England by the Archbishop of Canterbury. A bounty of $57 million had been placed on his head. Canon White has accepted the decision to remove him from Baghdad, not for the danger to himself, but for the danger he was posing to the people around him.
